If you really want to make your wedding speech one that is remembered then there is a sure fire way todo it. Humor.

Every sentence doesn’t need to be funny but a good splattering of funnyness will do wonders for your confidence and others enjoyment…which is what the day is really about. Funny best man wedding speeches will be talked about for years, get it right and you will rival the groom for attention during the rest of the day!

There is a danger though, I would advise against being funny in a nasty way, you don’t want to humiliate people or offend. Keep it light hearted and you will be fine.

When I did my speech I kept in mind at all times that I should show respect to everyone present, I wanted to be funny but I also had to respect the fact that there were children in the room. I wasn’t there to insult the mother in law either!

You can also use humor to grab attention if people start drifting as they can do when there are numerous speeches taking place one after the other.

Getting a reaction from the audience will do your confidence the world of good as well. When an audience laughs at one of your jokes I have to admit, it is amazing. Now I know why people take to the stage full time, there is nothing like it. You can experience the same thing too.

If you keep the tone conversational the speech will come across as informal and like you are just speaking to friends. Treat everyone in your audience as a friend and you will do great.

You can also add some interaction with the audience, this is a great way to keep them engaged and attentive. People will love it.

Make sure that you maintain eye contact, don’t stare at anyone in particular for a long time but vary the areas of the room that you are focusing on, this will keep everyone engaged.

Doing a run through with a few friends will help you to quickly master this technique, try and get them to be focused on your trough the whole speech and notice if they are started to look away and then fix that persons eye to bring them back to you.

Take on board some of these tips and you will be well on the way to a successful best man wedding speech.

Now when writing your best man wedding speech it is up to you to decide how much you want to joke, embarrass the groom, embarrass the bride, jest with the families and anyone else in the wedding party. But I would add a word of caution, you don’t want someone getting upset or people being put into a foul mood on a day that is supposed to be the happiest day of their lives.

One thing that you can do is to give yourself an air of authority by making sure that you thank people for the work they have done, whether it was producing the lovely groom in the first place! or for making the wedding cake.

Coming across as an authority figure early on can allow you to get away with perhaps more than you might of before as people will see you as a leader figure.

Thanking people also makes you come across as humble and not egotistical which can also have a similar effect as the leader role.

Don’t misunderstand me,back then I would have loved to have that honor but I was just so intimidated by the best man wedding speech . Now of course, making best man wedding speeches holds no fear what so ever, I could do them standing on my head with both arms tied behind my back (I wouldn’t recommend that by the way).

Back then however, after Mike asked me, I avoided thinking about it for as long as possible. I left it for far too long.

My advice to you is to get down to it as soon as possible, planning is key to giving yourself the confidence you need to carry it off with amazing results.

Staring at the bland piece of paper or the computer screen is fearful for most people, even authors hate that blank page but the key is just to start jointing down ideas. Start by just writing down anything that comes into your head, stories, ideas, headings… anything so long as you are putting things down. Once you have something there in front of you, suddenly things are not so bad.

Forget about thoughts of actually standing up, giving your best man wedding speech in front of people at the moment, just concentrate on the ideas. That way you won’t get distracted and intimidated. Making a speech can be nerve-wrecking at the best of times so just put that to one side for the moment.
